The Diamond Bourse of Canada has been assembling and forming an official Diamond Bourse trade delegation to China. Prospective members of the proposed delegation have already been contacted by the Bourse. The delegation will be attending the Hong Kong shows during the week of the 19th of September. The delegation members would then fly to Shanghai and be hosted by the Shanghai Diamond Exchange (SDE).

This delegation has three primary goals:

1. Fact Finding: To allow the individual Canadian diamond businesses to better understand the Chinese market, and to identify commercial opportunities, market areas and niches that complement their existing business models, and/or locate local business partners to work with.
2. Enhance overall China-Canada diamond trade relations: Promote a Chinese understanding of the current Canadian diamond market, from mining to retail, and to illustrate to Chinese stakeholder the current diamond investment opportunities that exist within Canada. In addition to that we intend to explore various scenarios for direct and indirect Chinese investment in new diamond manufacturing operation in Canada.
3. Promote Canadian polished diamonds in China: The DBC intends to use this China trip to promote the marketing and distribution of Canadian polished diamonds.

A complete and full itinerary together with the relevant travel arrangements will be made available to all members of the delegation, upon final approval.

This is the Bourse’s first formal trade delegation, we intend for more to follow, as our industry expands.
